Procedure for export of sesame seeds to the United States of America (USA)

The Indian government has announced updated export policy conditions for sesame seeds, specifically for exports to the United States. These changes are effective from November 16, 2024.

Additional policy conditions have been introduced under Chapter 12 of Schedule-II of the ITC(HS) 2022 for sesame seed exports to the USA are inserted as under:

12074010	Of seed quality		Export of items to the united states of America (USA) shall be permitted subject to the following conditions: – India oilseeds & produce export promotion council (IOPEPC) ls designated as competent authority to issue export certification. The IOPEPC shall issue export certification within two working days of receiving the request from exporter subject to a ‘Certificate Of Analysis’ by a NABL accredited laboratory.

This document provides the necessary steps for compliance. Exporters must ensure their sesame seeds meet these new requirements to continue shipping to the USA after November 16, 2024.
