Import of Menthol under Advance Authorisation/DFIA

The Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has made important amendments to the Handbook of Procedures (HBP) and Standard Input-Output Norms (SION) under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), 2023. With immediate effect, the SION/Ad-hoc norms for the import of Menthol, which were previously suspended, have been reinstated.

These norms now apply under the ITC(HS) codes 29061110 and 29061190, as per Supplementary Note No. 1 of Chapter 29 in the ITC(HS), 2022 Schedule -I (Import Policy). This means that Regional Authorities (RAS) and Non-Corporate Entities (NCs) can now proceed with the issuance and fixation of Advance Authorization/DFIA and Ad-hoc norms following the established policy and procedures.
