Imposition of Minimum Export Price (MEP) on Export of Honey.
The Indian government has extended the Minimum Export Price (MEP) for natural honey exports. This means honey cannot be sold below a set price when exported, helping to protect local producers from unfair competition.
· MEP applies to honey under ITC(HS) code 04090000.
· This is an update to the previous rule from March 2024.
· The goal is to ensure fair pricing and quality control for honey exports.
· Fair Pricing: Protects honey producers from price cuts.
· Quality: Encourages better quality exports.
· Market Stability: Prevents price fluctuations.
