Government Extends IPL's STE Status for Urea Import Until 2026.

Government Extends IPL's STE Status for Urea Import Until 2026.

In a recent development, the Government has extended the STE (State Trading Enterprise) status of Indian Potash Limited (IPL) for importing Urea on Government account. This extension will remain valid until March 31, 2026.

The decision was made in exercise of powers under the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, and aligns with updates in the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023. IPL will continue to handle the import of Urea (Agricultural grade) for government purposes, as outlined in the Import Policy under ITC(HS) Code 31021010.

This extension ensures a stable supply of agricultural grade Urea while maintaining the same terms and conditions as per Notification No. 79/2023 dated March 18, 2024.

Key Takeaway: IPL is authorized to import Urea on the Government’s behalf until March 31, 2026, ensuring that farmers have access to this crucial agricultural input.

This issues with the approval of Minister of Commerce & Industry.
